Weekly Agenda: 9.2.14

Wow that week went really fast for me. We are making strides toward becoming an active club. Although I still have much to learn about the ClubRunner web site but I am learning and I encourage us all to do the same.

  1. The ClubRunner website, Our website is one of the most critical pieces of our structure. Last week I mentioned that there are free webinars about how to use it. Unfortunately nobody responded to that item. But I am not discouraged, we have only just begun to turn the wheel. Please explore it, and log in with your email address and password, so you can check out your profile and update it. Yes we are a club who do not meet face to face but we  still owe it to each other to share who we are and take an interest in each other. There’s lots of help available if you get stuck.
  2. On 8/26 last week I purchased the web address rotaryeclub7255.com as I said I would. It cost $10.71 for a year and now regardless of what happens our website will not be interrupted. Please use the new address in your Rotary signature and proudly share it with your friends and family.
  3. Charles and James are actively researching where in Africa to procure New Member membership kits, complete with pins, certificates, wallet cards etc.. I will procure a kit for Leslie to have for Thursdays induction.
  4. I have invited the Freeport-Merrick Rotary Club to partake in our celebration as many of them have been my Rotary friends for ten years and it seemed like the right thing to do would be to invite the whole club. I hope they all come but I expect it will just be a few if any.
  5. I asked for your support to attend the Rotary Leadership Institute for $95, because it will make me a better leader for our club. Typically the club pays for a member to attend and I agree that it should. But since we are pretty poor, I pledged to repay the club in the form of a $100 donation back before December 31, 2014. Five affirmative votes have come back and so I am happy to say that I will be attending.
  6. Our Treasurer Jayanthi agreed to meet with me to discuss a financial plan/budget for the year now that she is back from vacation. It is important that we have this as a financial projection for ourselves. Rather than just leaving it up to fate to see what happens. We all know what will happen if we don’t plan.
  7. As for our celebration on Thursday at 8 pm, since there is no line item in our budget for it, please bring some soda or something to drink and a snack to share such as a desert or chips etc. Not to much, just a little something. Rotary Member from Freeport-Merrick, Legislator Denenberg’s office is preparing some nice citations for presentation to commemorate the occasion.
  8. I believe that a Rotary Eclub can be as strong of a Rotary club, as any “Face to Face” club, but just like a “Face to Face”, not unless the members actively participate. On that belief I will rest the Pen and let it resonate for a week.

Okay, so has anyone memorized the “Object of Rotary” yet? I have $20 happy dollars to give the club for the first to have that under your belt.

Note: You must communicate with the Presidents Desk at least once a week by any mode of communication you have easiest available in order to be recognized as attended for the week.
